The Big Picture & Corporate Moves 📰

Macro Movement

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) surprised equity markets by lifting the benchmark repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50%. Shifting its stance to "calibrated tightening" to tackle sticky underlying inflationary pressures, the central bank put rate-sensitive counters instantly on the defensive.

Simultaneously, macro worries expanded as Brent crude oil spiked past $101 per barrel due to lingering global geopolitical risks. This volatility exerted immediate downward pressure on the Indian Rupee, which slipped further toward historic lows of 96.78 against the US Dollar.

By The Numbers: Market Health Check 📊

Key Levels & Weekly Technicals: On the technical charts, 22,500 remains the critical immediate support line for Nifty, followed by a deeper structural cushion near its long-term 200-week moving average. Overhead resistance shifts lower to 22,800. The weekly Relative Strength Index (RSI) continues to drift downward out of overbought territory, while the MACD line signals ongoing bearish consolidation.

Upcoming Earnings Schedule: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is scheduled to kick off the high-stakes Q2 corporate earnings season today, setting the definitive benchmark tone for the broader IT sector.

FII & DII Actions: Institutional players displayed highly divergent flows. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers, offloading shares worth ₹6,121.37 crore ($730M equivalent). Conversely, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) attempted to stabilize the fall, recording net purchases of ₹4,596.57 crore ($550M equivalent).

Commodity & Global Cues: Brent crude continues its upward trend, trading higher at $101 per barrel. On international fronts, strong US GDP expectations kept global bond yields hardened, causing spot MCX Gold to show cautious, range-bound patterns amid a strengthening global dollar index.

The Retail Reality Check 💸

Just when retail investors thought the market was forming a beautiful double bottom, the RBI stepped up and gave our portfolios a strict "calibrated tightening" slap.

My screen is currently displaying more shades of crimson than a Bollywood wedding attire. I looked at the technical indicators to find comfort, but the moving average breakdown tells me the only thing "Fast & Furious" right now is the speed at which my hard-earned cash is evaporating.

At this rate, the only "rights issue" my household will be approving is my husband issuing a complete ban on my trading account.

Let’s Talk Strategy 👇

With the RBI rate hike shaking up major rate-sensitive names and TCS officially sounding the Q2 corporate earnings bugle today, volatility is here to stay.

Are you using this market dip to aggressively accumulate beaten-down blue chips, or are you sitting completely on cash until the technical support levels stabilize?
